West Philadelphia native Carmen Amare was born on June 21, 1995, When rappers like Biggie Smalls, Nas, Tupac Shakur and many others artists in the Hip-Hop scene were at their prime. The chances of Carmen not taking heed to hip hop culture were slim to none, But its was the traumatic experience of losing her father at the tender age of nine years old is what helped her find her interest in Hip-hop. From then on until the age of sixteen Amare indulged her self into Hip-Hop culture but hadn’t yet found her voice. Carmen believes that Philadelphia has influenced her craft in a positive way because of its diversity, and Because of her encounters she is now able to make her music more relatable to anyone of any ethnic background. September of 2011 she began to write and recite her own rhymes; and on October 21, 2011 Carmen Amare performed a ten minute long freestyle for AllFlamerz.com where she viciously spews out punch line after punch line gaining her almost 600,000 views.
Influenced by artists such as: Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Queen Latifah, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, Salt and Pepper, Los, Tupac Shakur, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Slick Rick, Kanye West, Nas And Big L. Carmen Amare Displays Creativity, enthusiasm, Metaphoric and witty punch lines as well as the key ingredient to being successful in any field an Ambitious attitude confidence in your craft when she rhymes.
Similar to any other 17 year old high-school student in America sometimes Carmen enjoys school but a lot of the time she doesn’t. Carmen stated “ I dislike what schools teach us … I feel that we should have classes that teach us how to deal with real life situations like death as well as how to interact with people effectively. In no way does school in my opinion teach you to be a better person or how to illuminate your spirit. It just doesn’t seem beneficial to the soul”. Carmen aspires to be a well known female rap artist and a philanthropist. Ms. Amare is definitely on the rise, is Hip-Hop prepared for yet another female lyrical genius? I guess we will have to wait and see.
